August is family fun month so I thought it would be appropriate to share some family fun things to do in Denver. The best part is, most of these places are absolutely free, and the rest are very budget friendly!
I don't know about your family, but come summer time, mine lives in the water. It is so hot and dry here in Colorado, that getting wet is the best thing to be doing! One of our absolute favorite places to do this is in front of Union Station. Union Station is right at the heart of downtown Denver and is a cool place to check out, in and of itself! However, they have the biggest fountain splash pad I've ever seen (that is free at least!) right outside! It's situated right in front of some fun restaurants that are connected to Union Station. There's even an ice cream spot right there! We love to pack a lunch, hop on the light rail which drops us off right at Union Station, and play in the fountains. We usually get ice cream afterwards, of course!

Another fun little place to check out is Delaney Farms. Delaney Farm is a 158 acre historic property. It is one of the last remaining homesteads in Aurora CO. You can schedule a tour of the buildings still standing, such as the Round Barn, the School House, and the Gully Homestead house. They do have open days on select Saturdays, too.
The kids had fun exploring and the little girl inside of me loved all the Little House On The Prairie feels! The volunteers there were eager to share their knowledge of the farm as well as show us around. Some of them were even in character costumes!
A newly discovered favorite of ours is Oblio's Pizzeria. Every Tuesday is kid's night. The kids get free pizza (with the purchase of an adult pizza), and ice cream sundae bar. They also bring in a face painter and a balloon animal maker. My kids looove getting their faces painted with their favorite characters, and choosing what kind of balloon they want is the hardest decision they have to make at this age!
Have any favorite things to do as a family in Denver?!? Share them in the comments! I know there is sooo much more to do here in CO, but I think I want to do more posts like this, so didn't want to share them all at once! Let me know what you think!
