Kimonos are one of my favorite summer pieces to wear. They are lightweight and add so much to any look. They can be worn with dresses, leggings, and denim. But my favorite way to wear them is with a white t shirt and some distressed denim shorts! They come in all different colors, styles, and lengths. I will link some of my favorites below :)
FOR THE MOMS
For those that don't know, I am a mom of three. You don't see them on here often because, well, bringing three small toddlers on a photo shoot is not my idea of fun! Haha. That and I am still not sure how I feel about having them plastered all over the Internet. But I am a mom, and they are my life. They are the reason I finally decided to go after my dream and start this blog. I want to be an example to them that dreams are good. Hard work is good. I want them to chase after their dreams, not just to be what the world says they should be. And while being a mom is my favorite job, it is not always easy! In fact, it rarely is.
There are a lot of things about being a mom that are difficult. Being responsible to raise up these little people to be kind, responsible, loving human beings is a daunting task! I understand the feeling of failure, like you're not doing enough or doing a good enough job. I understand the struggle to compare. I understand the heavy feeling of depression and being heavy laden.
As moms, we do a lot for a lot of people, often putting ourselves on the back burner. I started Teddy Bears & Lipstick to hopefully change that mindset for some of you. I am a huge supporter in the fact that it is not only okay for you to take care of yourself, it is vital! Take care of yourself. Do something for yourself because you love to do it. I am not advocating for a life of selfishness and child neglect. But I don't think it has to be one or the other. Be the mother that does what is best for your children because you know it's best for them. You are one of the few people that knows your child inside and out, trust that! Be the mom that gets on the floor and plays with kids. Be the mom that gets dressed in the morning. That goes on dates with her husband and best girl friends. Be the mom that takes time outs in the bathroom. Be the mom that feeds herself and not just her kids. Be the mom that says no because you just can't take on another task. Be the mom that encourages healthy eating and lifestyle, by demonstrating it. Be the mom you were called to be, not what the world thinks you should be. Life can be stressful, but life is also short. Live it to the best of your ability (with the help of God's grace), by taking care of yourself as well as others. Love. Listen. Pray. And keep on mommying.
Happy Mother's Day!
