Though the holidays are in full swing over here, I have all my Christmas shopping done and most of my wrapping, I have a hard time believing Christmas is 9 days away! My one and only Christmas party this year is tonight, but I do also like to dress up for Christmas Eve service and sometimes Christmas Day, depending on the festivities! So, I've got a last minute holiday look for you today! I also thought it would be fun to share our (disastrously - hilariously - cute) family photos as well as a "bucket list"!
I love having a reason to wear anything shiny, sparkly, velvety, or festive colored! I knew this silver midi skirt and these burgundy velvet pumps would make the perfect combination for a holiday look. I loved the combination of colors, but also the combination of textures. I decided on a chunky knit sweater to finish off the look, and of course, my JORD wood watch! (If you missed my post on these beautiful timepieces, you can find it HERE. There is still time to enter the giveaway to win a giftcard, as well!)
I kept my finishing pieces neutral, as I felt it flowed better with the light silver skirt. I had originally styled this look with a silver clutch, but my mom brain took over and I forgot to bring it with me! The bucket bag was not quite the look I was going for, but I think it looks pretty good! It gives this look a more casual, laid back vibe, which can also be rocked with sneakers!!
Now, on to our family photos. It is hard enough getting photos of kiddos, but having three kids in two and a half years is insanely difficult. We just couldn't muster up the strength to get family photos done, the one time we tried there was a complete utter meltdown with two of three children. And then mom. Ha. #kiddingnotkidding. So I was determined to get some nice photos and send off Christmas cards at the same time! Two birds with one stone, right?? I planned the outfits, coordinated the colors. Hired the photographer and set the date. Picked a location (we went back and forth on indoor or outdoor....)
It was a perfectly nice day, the kids were in good spirits, ( they may or may not have been bribed with smoothies from Jamba Juice), and the hubby and I were excited to finally get a family photo! We were about ten minutes away from the location when I noticed the wind had picked up. Like, really picked up! I groaned inwardly, knowing exactly what this meant. My carefully curled hair would be blowing all over the place (I absolutely do not think I am photogenic at all. I know I am not. So little things like that, really don't help!!) My two and a half year old princess would also be frustrated that her hair was in her face, and my fourteen month old would be mad. Just mad. Annnnnd it would also be cold.
So, we got the photos back. Our photographer graciously offered to do a reshoot sometime, and I will probably take her up on it! But, these photos are pretty much reality and well, some of them are decent! At least the kids are cute and my husband looks dang good, as always :) Enjoy!
The holidays are a blast but can be so busy that we don't even get to do the things we want to do! I decided to put together a quick little list of things we like to do! We've only knocked off a couple items so need to get on it! ;) What is on your holiday bucket list??
